LORD LIFT ME UP

Lord lift me up and let me soar

With the angels round heavens door.

This old world below has got me down

And I long for higher ground.

Lord lift me up and let me fly

To that fair land beyond the sky

Where all is peace forevermore,

Lord lift me up and let me soar.

Lord lift me up on wings of love

Take me to my home above,

When my journey here is finally o’er

Lord lift me up and let me soar.

Lord lift me up and let me soar

With the saints at heavens door

With all my friends and loved ones too,

Lord lift me up to soar with you.

This poem was inspired partly by an old hymn, Higher Ground and it's the midi playing. The other part? Well, sometimes I get to thinking I'd sure like to leave this world when I look around and see how it's changing. ;-)

HIGHER GROUND

I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Refrain

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table land,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

Refrain

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

Refrain

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till Heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Refrain
